UPR Fact Sheets

To help NGOs better understand how to submit reports and be involved generally in reporting to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) mechanism, Child Rights Connect has developed a series of fact sheets. Fact sheets 1 and 2 are available below and numbers 3 and 4 will follow shortly.

UPR Fact sheet 1:

The Universal Periodic Review (2011) provides information for NGOs on how the UPR mechanism functions; how it differs from the CRC reporting mechanism; and how NGOs can be involved to influence the process and bring key child rights issues to the fore.

UPR Fact sheet 2:

NGO Written Submission for the UPR (2011) provides information for NGOs about how to prepare and submit a written report for consideration in relation to the UPR of a given State. The fact sheet details how best to capture child rights issues and present them in a way that communicates key messages effectively to States.

Working Papers

The CRIN and Child Rights Connect Joint Working Papers are based on surveys of national child rights coalitions to better understand how coalitions are working with the CRC at national level.

Working Paper No. 1 (2004)

A Profile of National Child Rights Coalitions: Findings of Child Rights Connect for the CRC
Survey of National Child rights Coalitions
are the findings of a survey of national child rights coalitions.  The paper looks at issues of membership, areas of the CRC where coalitions are working, the methods and scope of their work, the level of activity and examines information on outreach and capacity

Working Paper No. 2 (2005)

The Use of Concluding Observations for Monitoring the Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child examines how national coalitions have used the concluding observations of the Committee to monitor the implementation of the CRC at national level.  Nine case studies are presented and lessons learned are analyzed.
