SECRETARIAT
Child Rights Connect maintains a small Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland which carries out the daily work of the network. Its main activities revolve around supporting national NGOs and coalitions from over 150 countries in reporting on the CRC and its two Optional Protocols. The Secretariat also provides training to NGOs during national and regional workshops.
The Secretariat also ensures NGO participation in the days of general discussion, general comments, elections of Committee members and sub-regional workshops to follow-up concluding observations.
In the area of child rights mainstreaming, the Secretariat focuses on the new optional protocol for a communications procedure under the CRC, supporting NGOs in sending relevant information on children to other treaty bodies, following the treaty body harmonisation process and engaging with the Human Rights Council.
